Social Media Strategy: Things To Be Avoided While Carving

Now a days about 1/3rd of  time spent online is on social media. Social media is constantly on the news; buzzing in on our Smartphones and helping customers build relationships with brand. Social media basics all are aware of like answering customers queries, post valuable and educational information and watch the channels 24*7.
To improve the social media strategy even further, have a look at the following practices:-

11.      Don’t aim too much on the audience size.
To increase the number of followers or likes is short term. If people are encouraged to follow your Instagram account for a contest and they don’t win, you end up losing your followers. If a community is created and valuable content is shared, the audience will grow on its own and sustain-ably. Go for quality rather than quantity.

22.      Avoid jumping in on every cultural conversation
Many articles let out fun aimed for brands and feel compelled to share their opinion on celebrity blunder, world event. Some things are better left as they are.

33.      Respond to positive feedback
Tie a bow on the interaction whenever you get a positive one because the customer is likely to say good things about you again. They get easily influenced by opinion of others, so when the openly express their love for your brand, its valuable. Thank people for their feedback and give incentives wherever possible.

43.      Don’t avoid nights and weekends
You may be working Monday to Friday but your serving community is global. Spanning the time zones across the world and checking social networks apart from your normal work hours. Think about all the times the whole week you check on Twitter and Youtube.

54.      Do not repost same content on every channel
You might be having a great idea about posting a video or infographic but don’t post it everywhere your brand is present. Each network has different capabilities and audiences. When you publish same thing everywhere, you give your audience a chance to not follow you everywhere. After all, who wants to see the same thing four times?

65.      Review your posts and don’t set excessive goals
Social messages live and breathe the communications which require responses. After scheduling some messages in a day and then not checking what responses it got, won’t do the task. The whole point after all is to be social.

Setting too many goals align with the greater goals of your brand and prove the ROI of being social. But if planned too many, is not a long term thing to do. Focus on increasing awareness, generate leads, converting them, speedy service and up selling opportunities.

The big deal regarding Instagram is that the engagement it receives is more than that of Facebook and Twitter. Images attract viewers like nothing else does. Following are some ways you can use Instagram to capitalize your brand in order to seize an extra interest on the logo and every other thing:-
  • User Focused Content
Give people highlights about your emblem on Instagram to get them excited because they like to be diagnosed and make sure they are telling their pals about you. For instance, Go Pro is aimed at adventure and their Instagram account is loaded with consumer generated content material. Whether it is rock climbing, diving off street driving, or any other thing, customers like to expose how they are using their Go Pro’s cameras.

  • Keep the Online Presence Intact
Irrespective of what Social Media network you are accessing, maintaining a steady presence is important. Online personality of a brand whether it is voice or emotion, should be the same no matter where your enthusiast locate you. Use the brand’s image as the profile picture and brand name as the account’s username for people to find you easily. Else you can create watermark to reinforce your brand’s logo onto the minds of your customers.

  • Make Good use of Hashtags
If you take any post on Instagram from the feed, you’ll notice that Hashtags are quiet a huge thing on social media. They are there to promote your brand’s products/ services also to connect with specific community people. Inspire your followers from Twitter or different locations by posting the picture of people using your products. Take profit from the current famous Hashtags with maximum relevance to your product and be on the front.
  • Display your Skills
The image has to be not flashy and be like something the audience can handle. Show your skills with the use of an image. For e.g. smooth images of food, clothing and interiors are the eye candy for the ones who love styled lifestyle pictures. People can also follow your page on Instagram based on your photos and brand name but they are going to stick around and inform others if you wow them.

Gain Visibility with Social Media Optimization

What is SMO?

The concept of SMO is simple, it means implementing changes to optimize a site so that it’s more easily linked to and more highly visible in social media searches on custom search engines, more frequently involved in posts, blogs & podcasts that are relevant.

It is similar to SEO, in the sense that the aim is to maximize visibility and traffic to the site or blog from social media. That sounds straightforward but we need to be aware that this concept is quite old. If SMO is anything like SEO, then we can expect that some of those tactics which were relevant 10 years ago may no longer be relevant today.

Why SMO is Important?

You are posting your content consistently on few social media channels that you have set up for the same. With all the things on social media, once you stop moving, you start to sink. You need to be active. SMO is important because:-
  • Your social media profiles can rank for branded search terms help you hold more attention on search result space.
  • Paying attention to small aspects of SMO can add up and make big impact.
  • If you are not following these practices, your social media presence can be hurt and you can lose out on valuable referral traffic little by little.

How to make your Blogs or Website Social Media-Friendly

The first place to start SMO services is on your blog or website. This makes sure that you have some of the items in place to ensure your site or blog displays attractive content when shared on social media. Also make sure it’s easy and intuitive for users to share your content as well.

Add Social Sharing Buttons to your Site & Blog Posts

Add some social sharing buttons if your site doesn’t have them already. While there is some debate over the best placement for social media buttons on blogs, or whether people actually use them, they do make it easier for users to share your content.

Add Linkable Content to your Static Website Pages

Blog posts are shared on social media. If you don’t think your post is worth sharing, you probably wouldn’t have written it in the first place. Static Website Pages are “About Us” or “Services” pages on the website which are static. It may be difficult to make static pages interesting enough for people to share and that is not because they are crucial, It’s because there isn’t much scope on those pages that people want to share, like, tweet or pin them.

The solution is to add value to those pages with link-able content which means that it can easily be linked in social media posts. This provides something of value to the people that are likely to share with their followers.

•    White Papers or E-books
•    Info-graphics
•    Video
•    Contest Signup Forms

Add Twitter Cards and Facebook Open Graph Markup to your Website, Blog posts and Blogs

Adding these to your web pages and blog posts can help you to control how they appear when they are shared by others online.

What are Twitter Cards?

Twitter cards are simply a few lines of HTML which allows you to specify videos, photos and other media which appear when a page is shared on Twitter.

There are 4 different types of cards you can choose from:-

•    Summary Cards: These include page title, image thumbnail, description and a @attribute to your twitter account.

•    Summary Card with Large Images: These are same as summary cards but with a bigger image.

•    App Cards: These feature a direct download link for a mobile app.

•    Player Cards: These include a media player for video or audio content.

Example of how a summary card with a large image looks like-

What is Facebook Open Graph Markup?

It’s a code which is added to your blog or website to help control how pages and posts appear on Facebook when people share them. It allows you to control images, description and title which appear when a URL is shared on the platform.

How to Add Twitter Cards and Facebook Open Graph Data to Individual Blog Posts

Yoasts allows you to add twitter cards to individual blog posts. Just scroll to the bottom of your blog posts in WordPress, find the Yoasts box which is easy to spot and then click the button to find social media options.

A screen will appear where you can edit or add the Open Graph data for Facebook. You’ll also be able to create a card for Twitter here.

  • Brand Monitoring
Do a search on your name, blog name or brand’s name on social media accounts. Is there anything you need to respond to or be aware of? Do the same for your competitors or others for your niche. Find what the people are saying and how you can turn it to your own benefit.
  •  Find content to curate
Find outside content to share with your followers and add it to your calendar for the upcoming week. Add interesting and new content to it and set aside the time for it.
  • Schedule your own content on social media
Block out some time to simply schedule your own content to publish on social media and for this, set aside a day or two.

What do Each Month ?

Check your website analytics and data. By checking your stats and analytics you see how well your social content is performing. Lookout for the latest trends in topics, traffic, design, type of content and time and date shared. Find out what is working and what is not. As you get better, and discover that you can handle that extra load, move to do this on a weekly basis.

Adjust your goals of social media according to what your monthly analytics review is telling you. You might need to share more or less at a different time. Plan your upcoming content monthly with regard to social media marketing. Think of any campaigns or themes and plan to create the content that you’ll be publishing.

Significant SEO Tips you Must Know

SEO can often be like something which can transform things. Elements of a strong SEO strategy are not self evident to those not trained in this field. However, once you get the basics, you can:
  • Boost up your organic search traffic dramatically
  • Increase conversion rate
  • Generate more revenue and leads
Despite all the rumors, SEO is not dead. Even best of the content needs help in getting found. So, why it is important? Let’s find out-

You might have heard that it’s an outdated practice. But this is not true. Search engine rankings and SEO practices are still evolving and it’s still vital to know the basics and not to rely on luck to get your content to rank. We have heard the line repeatedly that “content is king”. The sentiment behind this runs true. You can’t have an SEO strategy without quality content.

  • Include Primary Keyword in the Right Places
It’s important to make sure primary keyword gets involved in several places in your post. It’s the most basic elements of on-page SEO. Each blog post you make should focus on only one primary keyword.

  • Use Long Tail Keyword Throughout your Post
If the primary keyword is content marketing, long tail variations will be- content marketing tips for small businesses, content marketing ideas for solo bloggers, etc.

  • Understand Latent Semantic Indexing
This refers to the way search engines look for relevant themes on web pages instead of just keyword densities. Use synonyms and phrasing variations of primary keyword. Don’t repeat your primary keyword so much that it becomes tiresome. It looks redundant and spammy both to visitors and search engines alike.

  • Prefer Writing more for people and then for Search Engines
Keep your audiences in mind while writing. Avoid keyword stuffing. Readers are going to notice overly mechanical and over optimized for search engines. Spread your keywords everywhere as possible in your post. Long tail keywords will be included by you, naturally, as you write.

  • Ensure Comprehensive Content
Search engine want their users to have a good experience. Comprehensive blog posts should be long enough to cover a topic entirely. You will need to help the search engines to rank the content which thoroughly answers a question that user has asked about a topic.  It takes a fair amount of words to really cover most topics entirely (around 800-1000 words or more).

  • Create Unique Content for SEO
By unique content, it means a one which is not duplicated or anywhere else in the web, includes material or types of content that other blog posts on same topic are missing and involves knowledge or expertise which other sources can’t duplicate.

For this, there are ways to check the uniqueness- review posts and pages ranking for respective keywords and identify information that’s missing from them and then include that information in your blog posts.

Add types of content to your posts which others do not have such as Info-graphics, images, videos, etc which can ad unique value to your posts.

It is important to earn back links because search engines use links to determine relationships between different pages and websites. Make sure that relevant pages and posts on your own sites are linked as well.

  • Track the Right Metrics
When it comes to SEO, marketers tend to focus on rankings. Rankings are not strong key performance indicators (KPI’s) on their own. This is because personalized search makes it difficult to accurately track rankings across all users. It’s also because rankings are a means to an end (driving traffic to your blog) rather than an end by themselves.
